  4. Wayne Greening on July 21, 2021 at 8:51 pm

The only plants I buy is tomatoes,I grow from seed all the rest of my garden.

  5. Daniel T on July 21, 2021 at 8:51 pm

Hype… nothing special about this. Everyone is already doing it. It’s been on YouTube for years.

  6. tas dare on July 21, 2021 at 8:51 pm

In Australia our punnets have 6 or more seedlings. I just break them up, not gentle at all. 9 times out of 10 the roots recover fine. If I got just one seedling in a pot, I’d be really mad(:

  7. Kallie on July 21, 2021 at 8:52 pm

    That was my secret!!! Lol

  8. BLUE HORIZON on July 21, 2021 at 8:52 pm

  11. K Copeland on July 21, 2021 at 8:57 pm

I totally agree, and think it’s wonderful your sharing things like this with people. I do have to say though.. I just learned something about myself! I’ve always done that, and hadn’t put any thought into it even. And when I realized this was your Tip.. I was like, come on get to it… 😉😊 But that WAS IT. I gave myself a pat on the back.. lol I really enjoy your videos, thank you for your time, and effort to help others. 😊

  14. Daniel T on July 21, 2021 at 9:02 pm

Damn… Plant Abundance, you must hang around some nasty people.
In 20 years, I haven’t met a single gardener yet who wasn’t willing to freely share his gardening experience.

  15. Gil Shelley on July 21, 2021 at 9:04 pm

That is simply stupid, not a secret.

  16. Nhung Crosbie on July 21, 2021 at 9:04 pm

  20. Financial Coach Mark Bianchi on July 21, 2021 at 9:07 pm

I discovered that this summer when I bought a potted delphinium. It was actually 3 plants in one pot. I wasn’t nearly this gentle with the roots, just babied the 3 plants afterwards. They’re doing great!!!

  21. Sean Sam on July 21, 2021 at 9:07 pm

That was a secret 🤐 I always do that when I buy starts. What I did like was his method of taking the roots apart . I don’t use water jus gentle hands but seeing how water did that made me feel stupid I didn’t think of that before lmfao 🤪

  22. Rose Macaskie on July 21, 2021 at 9:07 pm

I find they finesse apart better when you treat them as if they were not so much next to each other vertically but horizontally. Like their roots together and their heads as far as possible from the head of the other on the horizontal plane.

  23. TemBrie Redd-Wafer on July 21, 2021 at 9:08 pm

I thought everyone knew this tip & only the greedy gardeners would be upset about it if any at all.

  24. Daniel T on July 21, 2021 at 9:09 pm

Pssst… try seeds, then you can have a whole flat for the same price.

  25. ChrisK on July 21, 2021 at 9:09 pm

Love the look of your garden. Thank you for sharing. You are so very down to earth. Stay blessed and safe.

I love getting my hands dirty in the dirt ! Not , I do not wear gloves ! Lol

  28. morrron5 on July 21, 2021 at 9:12 pm

dude thinks he just invented gravity

  29. A E on July 21, 2021 at 9:15 pm

If you didn’t have to shoot the video, you could just leave the seedlings in a basin of water for an hour. The separation would be much easier.

  30. Stefan on July 21, 2021 at 9:15 pm

Is this tip really worth it? You need more time at the store, use more time in the planting process just to safe a small amount of money?

That is the perfect hack for anyone that doesn’t value time and doesn’t grow from seed. I mean if I see a pot I’ll obviously buy it so where even is the secret?

  31. Rosa Mermaid on July 21, 2021 at 9:16 pm

I do the same sort of thing when dividing things like primroses, it makes it easier to ensure that every division gets a bit of root.

  32. Sherry Bacon on July 21, 2021 at 9:17 pm

I do that every year !!!

  33. CeeYHeat on July 21, 2021 at 9:23 pm

I knew this already. Thanks for sharing though

  34. Rosa Mermaid on July 21, 2021 at 9:24 pm

Real gardeners are happy to share, allow you to take cuttings, give you seedlings when they have too many and give loads of advice.

  35. Cookie Crisp on July 21, 2021 at 9:26 pm

Your not worried about getting soil born disease on the seedling or the plants that your pour the dirt water onto?

  36. Kristina Marie on July 21, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Good timing! I just picked up a deal on a big pepper plant with four in it! I was just going to leave it in the container but I have a feeling I should separate them to see if they’d thrive individually.

    Thanks!

  37. Shadow Fox on July 21, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Thank you sir! I have subscribed 😁 it’s very rare to see someone genuinely care about others like this. I know it may seem simple thinking to some but I really was having a struggle with my aloe pups because I didn’t know how to separate without damaging the roots

  38. John Talmage on July 21, 2021 at 9:27 pm

I almost mentioned mycorrhizal additives just as you mentioned it…lol.

Once you know, it’s as elemental as watering!

  39. Nathalie Bomer on July 21, 2021 at 9:28 pm

Such sage advice.. Thank you! 🤩

  40. honeyb houston on July 21, 2021 at 9:30 pm

    thank you!

  43. Paulo Cruz on July 21, 2021 at 9:34 pm

Cheaper to get some seeds and use those seeds to get plants at home!

  44. James Marshall on July 21, 2021 at 9:40 pm

I have been doing my seed starts like this for a few years. I plant 2-4 plants per small container like that. I gently tear them apart without doing your water tip and they seem to do just fine. I do heavily water after planting though.

  45. kara danvers on July 21, 2021 at 9:42 pm
